Functional Safety: Simplifyied Tool Qualification in the Automotive Industry
The new EXAM ISO 26262 QKit from MicroNova optimizes the qualification of tool chains for use with the EXAM test automation solution.
With its EXAM ISO 26262 QKit (EXAM QKit for short), the software and system vendor MicroNova is launching a plug-in for functional safety. The extension for the EXAM test automation solution enables automotive manufacturers and suppliers to easily create ISO 26262 safety-relevant documentation. This ensures that EXAM is fully qualified within the validation chain of the ECU development process.
The increasing complexity of software and electronics in modern vehicles poses immense challenges for the automotive industry. Car manufacturers and suppliers must meet strict regulatory requirements to ensure driver and passenger safety. MicroNova is launching its new EXAM ISO 26262 QKit to meet these requirements. It significantly simplifies the qualification of EXAM in tool chains in line with the ISO 26262 standard for automotive projects.
The ISO 26262 standard for functional safety lays down strict requirements for electronic control units and software components. In order to satisfy these requirements, MicroNova worked with Validas AG to develop the EXAM ISO 26262 QKit. The qualification kit (QKit) simplifies the creation of safety-relevant documentation for the EXAM test automation solution, minimizing the need for users to qualify the test automation themselves for each new tool version.
The Most Important Features of the EXAM ISO 26262 QKit at a Glance:
- Plug-in for functional safety: the EXAM QKit facilitates the creation of safety-related documentation in compliance with ISO 26262.
- Simplified tool qualification: test cases are created by MicroNova and executed automatically in EXAM.
- Safety manual for test execution: instructions supplied with the EXAM QKit explain to test engineers how to run EXAM in compliance with ISO 26262 specifications.
- ISO-TÜV qualification: automotive manufacturers and suppliers can be sure that the use of the EXAM tool is appropriately qualified and certified.
“Our new EXAM ISO 26262 QKit technology makes it much easier for our customers in the automotive industry to meet the strict requirements for functional safety,” emphasizes Christoph Menhorn, Head of Test Automation at MicroNova. “We are proud to offer a solution that not only reduces complexity, but also increases safety and quality in the development of automotive systems.”
