Telco Solutions Memberships and Committees

Together for more success and technological progress

Memberships and that set standards

In the field of Telco Solutions, MicroNova cooperates with institutions in the area of mobile communications including SDN and NFV as well as Internet of Things (IoT). MicroNova is actively involved in the following committees and associations, among others, in order to advance innovative technologies with strong members.

The aim of the association is to develop, set up, operate and improve a test field to promote research and development of mobile radio-based communication and its use cases. In addition to testing innovative 5G technologies, the association focuses on developing new applications and use cases around the 5G mobile communications standard. The association promotes strategic partnerships and provides a platform for innovation transfer between research and business.

As a founding member, MicroNova contributes years of experience in the development of RAN configuration tools for well-known mobile network operators. The workgroups cover a broad spectrum of technology based on 5G and beyond technology, ranging from software architecture and platforms, network slicing, augmented/virtual reality to V2X communication and autonomous driving.

MicroNova is a partner of the ‘Open SDN & NFV Lab’ (OSNL), which is affiliated with 5G Berlin e.V. The lab’s excellent infrastructure and custom-fit ecosystem provide ideal conditions for developing, integrating, and testing pioneering SDN/NFV applications, building on open-source projects such as OpenDaylight and ONAP. This makes it possible to map end-to-end use cases for 5G – from development to proof-of-concept.

In this environment, project teams can address the crucial tasks around 5G network slicing. Moreover, it is easy to involve relevant players from the manufacturing or automotive sectors, for example, in addition to the telecommunications sector. Thanks to the open architecture that the lab stands for, going forward it will be possible to connect and integrate campus networks into the SDN/NFV architecture.

An open standard for mobile networks that is independent of individual manufacturers and countries is the main goal of the O-RAN Alliance. MicroNova contributes the knowledge it has gained over many years around management of the Radio Access Network (RAN) – both with the proven product COM5.Mobile for automated integration, configuration, and optimization of the RAN, and with COM5.SDN Mediator. Mediator makes it possible to integrate different network technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G) into an SDN-/NFV- or Open-RAN-compliant architecture. By being a member of the O-RAN Alliance, these technologies can be integrated into suitable projects, taking into account concepts from the field of artificial intelligence, among others.
