MicroNova is not only pointedly involved in some projects from the area of youth and sports empowerment, but also does a lot in terms of ecology:
Energy efficient building
Our new building at the headquarters in Vierkirchen in the north of Munich meets the KfW energy standard Efficiency House 55 and obtains district heating from a biogas plant
External shading reduces heating in summer, while internal shading supports warming in the colder months. Our windows can be opened - along with corresponding automatic regulation of the air conditioning.
Blühpakt Bayern: MicroNova is part of it
Our flowering meadow binds about 1.5 tons of CO2 per year, even without the trees and shrubs planted as well, and it is also home to an insect hotel, starling boxes and two bee colonies. Through our two bee colonies, we also qualified for the “Blühpakt Bayern”: MicroNova has officially been part of the alliance against insect mortality and decline in species richness since 2020. "With the Blühpakt Bayern we want to stop this trend and develop a broad alliance for this purpose." - that's what it says on the Blühpakt Bayern website. Incidentally, our economical LED lighting is also deliberately chosen to be insect-friendly outdoors, both in terms of color temperature (warm white light with 3,000 K) and operating times.
Efficient use of resources
Waste avoidance and separation have been a matter of course for us for decades, and we also pay attention to the increased use of sustainable packaging in our canteen service.
In addition, MicroNova obtains in terms of figures the complete electricity consumption with “own” regenerative electricity, since company founder Josef W. Karl was able to acquire a small hydroelectric power plant near the headquarters about 20 years ago; it generates over 300,000kWh p. a. and thus even more environmentally friendly electricity than MicroNova consumes. This electricity production avoids 223 tons of CO2 according to comparative figures from the German Federal Environmental Agency.
Our goal was and is not quick profit, but long-term economic harmony. A balance, if you will. And Balance as well as sustainability are also essential in the ecological environment. I also want my two grandchildren and future generations to grow up and live in an intact environment. That's why I'm glad about the increased attention of the topic in business and society.Josef W.
